Crane rental questions

How much does it cost to rent a crane in McAllen?

Most operated crane rentals are billed by the hour with a 3–4 hour minimum. Published Texas rates run about $155–$175 an hour for a 23–30 ton boom truck, $205–$310 for a 40–75 ton hydraulic crane, and $355 or more for 100 tons and up, before travel time, fuel surcharge, permits, and riggers. A short boom truck job often lands around $600–$1,500. Larger lifts can reach several thousand dollars. Your written quote is the real number.

What size crane do I need?

It depends on the weight and the reach, not just the weight. A crane's rated capacity drops quickly as the load moves away from it. A 2-ton rooftop unit set 40 feet away may need a 20–30 ton boom truck. Use the sizer above for a rough guide, then the crane company confirms it with their load chart.

Do you rent cranes with an operator?

Most requests here are for operated rentals, where the crane company sends a certified operator. Bare rentals (you supply the operator) are less common and need proof of an NCCCO-certified operator and insurance.

How fast can I get a crane?

Boom trucks can sometimes go out the same or next business day. Larger cranes usually need a few days for scheduling, permits, and travel. Send your date with the request.

Who will quote me?

We are a free quote desk, not the crane company. We send your request to a local crane company in the Rio Grande Valley that handles your type of lift, and they contact you with a quote. You pay them, not us.
